On 3 May 1983, Hefina Orwig Evans of Bangor wrote a letter to the Welsh label Sain, singing the praises of a 12-year-old boy soprano who was the lead soloist with the Bangor Cathedral Choir. She had just returned from a service where Aled had sung 'Hear My Prayer' with the choir, and she said, 'It would be such a tragedy were his voice to break without a record of it.'
That letter started the recording career of one of the best treble singers the world has ever seen. Sain released his first album, Diolch a Chan, in 1983, and his second, Ave Maria, in 1984, and a single, 'Too Young to Know', in 1985. A third album was also recorded, but it could not be released due to the terms of Aled's signing with Virgin. However, when the time elapsed, half the third album was released on CD with the Ave Maria CD album, and now the time has come to release the other 'lost' tracks, including the only full version of 'Hear My Prayer' recorded by Aled.
