June Bronhill

Australia's last great star of the operetta stage captured in never-before commercially released excerpts from her operatic triumphs. The recordings on this three CD compilation span 43 years (Y95Y-Y994) and are housed in our usual stylish book format complete with a 48 page booklet brimming with rare photos, reminiscences from her colleagues and a scholarly biography.

Also included are excerpts from the Australian Casts of Robert and Elizabeth, The Merry Widow, Orpheus in the Underworld, concerts with Donald Smith, an audition at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and an aria from Lucia di Lammermoor! Rare moments from early television broadcasts both in Australia and the UK. Bronhill's performances in the Heats and Finals of the Y95Y Mobil Quest, scenes of her beautiful Gilda in Rigoletto and unbelievable performance in the title role of Donizetti's Mary Stuart; not to mention her early operatic roles for Sadler's Wells Opera.

Joining June Bronhill on various tracks are Rowland Jones, Ronald Maconaghie, Russell Smith, Dennis Dowling, Virginia Copeland, Janet Howell, Noel Mangin, Margaret Haggart, Justin Lavender, James Malcolm, Nance Grant, John Shaw, Aleander Oliver, Lyndon Terracini, Graeme Ewer, Alan Light, Kevin Miller, Jon Weaving, Denis Quilley, Harry Secombe, Geoffrey Chard, Donald Smith and Yusef Kayrooz. This is a musical cornucopia from the most well-loved Australian star.
